Cleo - Australian Cattle Dog/Border Collie mix
Chewy - Dutch Bunny
I live in Manassas, VA with my mom, my dog Cleo, and my bunny Chewy. Cleo is a 2 year old Blue Heeler/Border Collie mix, and Chewy is a 7 year old Dutch rabbit.
I was born with a love for animals and I started pet-sitting for my neighbors when I was around 10 years old. I’ve owned a plethora of animals myself including 4 guinea pigs, 1 rabbit, a Schnauzer, and my current pets Cleo and Chewy. I started volunteering for Prince William County Animal Shelter when I was 15, and I loved it so much that I’ve never had a job that doesn’t include animals since then. As soon as I was old enough at 16, I started working at Blooms Crossing Animal Hospital and Yappie Cuttery as a kennel assistant, before I crossed over into reception and eventually became kennel manager at 18 years old. By then, I’d gotten my associates degree in General Studies from Northern Virginia Community College, and I was ready to move on to new things as I transferred to George Mason University to obtain my Bachelors Degree in Integrative Studies with a concentration in Legal Studies, and a double minor in Social Justice and Human Rights and Conflict Transformation. Around the same time that I began my first semester at George Mason University in 2018, I also began working at Deepwood Veterinary Clinic as both a kennel attendant and a receptionist. Deepwood was a much bigger and more complex practice than I was used to as they practiced general medicine for cats and dogs as well as large animals (equine medicine), and exotics. I was exposed to a large variety of different animals and breeds and I became comfortable handling almost all of the animals handed to me.
This is my last year at George Mason University before I hope to transfer to Georgetown Law to pursue my law degree. While there is no specific major for the type of law that I want to practice, I’m planning on getting my Masters Degree in criminal law with the hopes that I’ll be able to serve as the prosecution on animal abuse cases and other animal-related charges.
