What does it mean to be a Fear Free Certified® Professional?

It means taking into account the emotional well-being of your pet, not just the physical. In human medicine, there has been a huge shift in focusing on the psychological welfare of patients. We've realized that the mind and body are connected. If one suffers, so too does the other. The same is true for our furry, scaled, and feathered friends.

It means knowing that a bad experience today can make future veterinary intervention scary and stressful. Veterinary care is important, but professionals cannot perform adequate physical examinations or interpret diagnostic data effectively if a patient is too anxious or aggressive. Stress changes values. Stress changes how effectively we are able to diagnose and treat your pet.

It means we will NEVER manhandle your pet, we will NEVER use excessive, unnecessary force or restraint, we will ALWAYS go above and beyond to avoid and alleviate fear, anxiety and pain. We use a combination of management techniques, trained behaviors, medication, and oh, so many treats to achieve our goals with your pets. All animals learn the same way and fear isn't the way to do it.

It means practicing veterinary medicine with compassion and empathy. All of our staff are Fear Free Certified® Professionals. We put your pet's emotional well-being ahead of wants, and put a plan in place for the needs of their medical care.
