Confinement with Unfamiliar Visitors

Dogs and cats that hide, bark, growl, lunge, or avoid people coming into the home are not interested in meeting visitors. We help them cope by managing these interactions.

  • Administer your pet's situational anti-anxiety medication 90 minutes before confinement.

  • Confine your pet 10-15 minutes before visitors arrive.

  • The confinement area should be well away from the main living space where the pet cannot see the visitors and not easily hear conversation.

  • Play white noise to help drown out the sound of visitors.

  • Provide a high value, frozen food toy to keep him entertained.

  • You can review more in depth set up instructions in our Stranger Danger protocol.
