In the summer of 2019, Emma started working at the Richmond SPCA and quickly transferred to their public dog training department. This ignited her passion for learning about dogs and behavior, turning what was initially a “summer job” into a long-term career. In 2024, she graduated with honors from Jean Donaldson’s Academy for Dog Trainers, earning a Certificate in Training and Counseling. She is now taking on more endeavors at the SPCA, such as teaching classes and working for their Behavior Helpline. She is so excited to be joining the Richmond ABWC team this spring, and working alongside such a talented and passionate group.
Emma is a passionate supporter of force-free training methods and aspires to provide accessible education to dog guardians. She has countless dog friends, her closest companions being her perfect blind husky Russel, and her silly “nephew/goddog,” Floyd. In her free time, she enjoys performing improv, crafting, and building her encyclopedic knowledge of the show Bob’s Burgers.
