Emi Brito

Veterinary Behavior Assistant

Pets:

  • Meadow – Pittie mix

Emi actually began her career in human behavior. She majored in psychology with a focus on adolescent mental health, and soon became involved with an organization that facilitated trauma-informed rescue animal adoptions for survivors of violence, supporting safe, healing-centered human/animal relationships. Emi realized that her love of animals and her background in psychology could join forces, and that her passion for understanding behavior didn’t have to stop with humans.

In 2023, Emi went to the local shelter in Philly looking to adopt a dog. She saw a puppy hiding in the corner–the only dog who wasn’t competing for attention. That puppy, Meadow, would wind up being her whole world. Emi would learn over the next couple of years what it meant to love a reactive dog, to discover how pain impacts behavior, and to never stop searching for answers to help your pet.
