Dr. Kelly Engler grew up in Houston, Texas, and has been fascinated with animals and animal behavior since childhood. She pursued a career in veterinary medicine with the goal to eventually specialize in behavior medicine. Her goal in pursuing this specialty is motivated by her desire to understand the intricate relationship between animals and humans. Dr. Engler attended Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine, where her medical interests expanded to include neurology, dermatology, and internal medicine. During her fourth year of vet school, she externed with Dr. Pike at Animal Behavior Wellness Center and fell in love with the practice. Following graduation and prior to beginning her behavior residency, Dr. Engler completed a small animal rotating internship at DoveLewis Emergency & Specialty Hospital, a level 1 VECCS certified facility in Portland, Oregon, where she refined her medical knowledge and practice. Dr. Engler lives in northern Virginia with her two cats, Charlie and Bonnie. When not working, she enjoys spending time with family, reading fiction, and attending barre classes.
